'Fertilizing plants, fertilizing ideas': Kaimukī teacher nurtures young entrepreneurs

Chu Hong has been teaching at Kaimukī High School for 23 years. She started as an English teacher. But her newest pursuit is agriculture. The idea for a student club came to her during the pandemic when she cultivated her own green thumb. Soon after, she brought her hobby into the classroom and created the Kaimukī W.O.R.M.S. Club

Oʻahu RC car racing team prepares to blow past the competition

Imagine a car drift. Now shrink it down to one-tenth of the scale.

With a driver clutch remote control, a small but tight-knit group of drifters spin their cars over a smooth concrete slab at the Aina Koa park in East Honolulu. These remote control (RC) drifters have been catching doors under this park pavilion for almost a decade.

In January of 2025, the Eaton wildfire spread through the Southern California community of Altadena. Altadena residents saw an outpouring of support from their community, but now face the much larger task of rebuilding not only their houses, but their lives, neighborhoods, and senses of normalcy.
